Friday Night Speaker - Friday, July 24th, 7pm at CALmoto

"Allan Karl - Around the World. Alone on a Motorcycle."

We are fortunate to have a remarkable visitor on Friday, July 24th to give a presentation on his three year, 62,000 mile journey spanning 35 countries on five continents. This man is the real thing, he has done what so many of us dream about. So far he has traveled 62,329 miles, in 847 days, consumed 1,116 gallons of gas and crossed 54 borders.

Allan Karl, Worldrider

On July 4th, 2005 Allan left his home in Southern California on a journey and adventure to travel around the world, alone, from top to bottom then all the way around, on his motorcycle. (BMW of course, an F 650). Without a support team, carrying everything he needs, he will continue his journey until he has reached 50 countries and reached all seven continents. His mission is not only to endure the rigors of overland travel by motorcycle but to help us all rediscover our world's cultural heritage and the importance of helping and supporting the humanitarian needs of our World Neighbors to make the world a safer place to live and travel.

The non-profit he represents, World Computer Exchange, is dedicated to acquiring computers that would otherwise end up stored in garages or thrown out, servicing them, and getting them into the hands of community leaders in third world countries. Once a twenty-foot container is filled with computers it is shipped to a distribution point, where local agencies and the Peace Corps in Senegal will see to the distribution. Allan will tell you how you can help this effort if you wish by visiting his website, but there is no obligation to participate.

Passionate about travel, writing, photography, film, music and history, he shares his experiences, thoughts, images and sounds as entertainment and a powerful reminder of the importance of recognizing humanity's role in understanding our world history, preserving our cultural heritage and participating in humanitarian efforts to support our world neighbors. His presentation is fascinating and of professional quality. He recently gave his presentation at Google, where it was enthusiastically received, and we are lucky that our schedules match for his evening at CALmoto.

Please join us for an evening with Allan on Friday, July 24th, at CALmoto in Mountain View, 7:00 pm. As always, food and beverages will be served, so please RSVP to me, Kari Prager, if you can so I can plan accordingly.

Ride safely and have fun!
