…The Triumph Daytona is pawing hooves, ready to go. Juergen rolls out on the three cylinder with fresh tires, and the expectations are set very high. He was already quick the day before during the warm-ups, and is one of many who felt very at home on the yellow Brit. And by the third hot lap he does it - a time of 1.53.848, in this field, under these conditions, a fabulous time. The Triumph Team celebrates, because the absolute fastest lap means a lot for prestige. Later on, the times posted by the other motorcycles demonstrates for sure that here in Jerez, Spain, the Triumph sets the benchmark for the supersport class. (Honda CBR 600 RR, Kawasaki ZX-6R, Suzuki GSX-R600 and Yamaha YZF-R6R are the other test bikes.) Already ten test riders have posted their personal best lap times, and on average their times were about .5 seconds faster on the Triumph than on the second fastest bike, the Yamaha R6. A most significant victory, and well-earned, too. Why is this so? "Because the Daytona is so well-balanced. Because you can approach the limits of traction with almost dream-like security. Because the gearing is perfectly spaced. Because the brakes are outstanding. And because the rev range is astonishingly broad, so that in many parts of the track it doesn't make any difference whether you are running in second or third gear. Everything simply fits together."
