Project Bio: Dave Moss, Official Pilot
Dave Moss was born May 23rd in the industrial town of Manchester, England. He has been riding motorcycles and racing street motorcycles from age fifteen.
Beyond street smarts, Dave is quite successful in the academic world as well as athletics. He graduated from Madeley College in Staffordshire with the US equivalent of a Masters Degree in English Literature and Physical Education. A few short years later, leaving a career as a high school teacher behind, he moved to the United States. Upon his arrival, he was asked to orchestrate the development of a 501(C) (3) non-profit organization set up to promote non-traditional sports and known as the Oregon Sports Union (ORSU). He has also been instrumental in developing an agency representing athletes and experienced the building of a software company. Dave's natural talent and years of experience have truly benefited him in the corporate and sports world.
Dave has been in organized racing since 1996 and has had great success to date as an amateur. With his own suspension company, Catalyst Reaction Suspension Tuning www.feelthetrack.com, he now attends well over 260 track/race day events per year in California, providing custom tuning of motorcycle suspensions to meet individual riding style and needs. We are fortunate to support his talents for yet another AFM season. He has raced a Daytona 600 for one season in stock trim and has managed to put it into the top 20 in two classes in the American Federation of Motorcyclists (A.F.M.).
Propitious timing brought him our way and we are blessed to have Dave. His technical riding makes him quite a force to be reckoned with on the track. His technical expertise is only rivaled by his passion for motorcycles and sharing that with others.
Project Bio: Jim Williams, Master Technician
Jim Williams was born in San Mateo and now lives in Redwood City with his wife and nine cats, three dogs, two birds, bunch of fish and a ferret. He and his wife have a pet setting business where they use all that at home experience to help others. Yet, don’t think Jim’s gone completely to the dogs, he works full time as a master technician here at California Triumph so he gets plenty of riding in. Also he has been known to enjoy a track day now and then and wow the crowds by having his wife along for the ride.
He is certainly no stranger to the world of motorcycle racing. His own career began in 1990, on an RGV-250. With less than a year on the track, he won his first AFM race in 1991. Not too shabby for a kid with most of his experience coming from riding a 1978 Suzuki RM125 beginning at the age fifteen. By 1992 Jim had earned the title 2nd top novice and tied for 20th place overall (points wise) with the AFM club. In 1993 Jim decided to leave ‘em wanting more and retired from racing. He chose to stay involved at the track by supporting his fellow racers with their bikes. He also worked as the intellect and technician behind a Husaberg 600 project that was quite the success by winning several races of 1998 AFM racing season.
We are very fortunate to have Jimmy, as he is still an avid rider and an excellent tech. He certainly adds a great deal to the project and the team.
