The Best of California - 2005 California BMW / Triumph Overnight Rides

The Best of California
2005 California BMW / Triumph Overnight Rides

Overnight Tour General Information

The Touring Centers are a new concept for California BMW / Triumph rides. The motels are centrally located and offer wonderful out and back day rides. At Sonora six major Sierra passes are very close. At Trinity the opportunities are different but no less spectacular. If you like fly fishing the Trinity Area Salmon and Klamath Rivers are world class.

Our luggage van will accompany us to Death Valley and on the Touring Center rides. The van will transport luggage and any non-riding passengers, along with tools and spares.

These trips are free. You are responsible for your own hotel charges and meals.

We ride rain or shine but avoid severe weather such as hurricanes, tornados and ice storms.

You are responsible for your bike being in reasonably good condition. Be prepared for flat tires and wide variations in temperatures. If you anticipate something is going to go wrong and prepare for it you'll have a perfect trip!

We ask that you sign up as soon as possible so we can help you confirm hotel accommodations. Hotels can be cancelled up to 48 hours prior to arrival with no cancellation penalties.

Hotels are chosen for location and reasonable rates. Amfac, Best Western and Zanterra Resort motels are of good quality and are not expensive. Death Valley (Stovepipe Wells) rates run approximately $75 a night. The Benbow Inn is approximately $125 a night. All other hotels are usually around $70 a night. These are room rates - double up and save.

Restaurants are chosen for good food and their willingness to provide separate checks - good tipping is appreciated (note to last year's riders - we will not make the same mistake in Delano we made last year!).

You should have a fuel range of at least 100 miles.

Carry water and a snack. Bring a camera.

We plan on riding approximately 200 to 250 miles per day. Side treks are available for those who wish to extend those distances. There are areas that can be enjoyed by dual sport bikes although all our planned routes are on paved surfaces - usually good ones.

We do not ride as a group. Ninety-nine percent of our riding is on two lane, lightly traveled roads and group riding is inappropriate. Riders are encouraged to find one or two people who ride at their pace and stay with them. Do not ride beyond your capabilities - the results are never worth it.
